As we move through the course for the first time questions on curriculum arise?

Currently my school is doing radicals and here is the topics:

Solve problems that involve operations on radicals and radical
expressions with numerical and variable radicands (limited to square
roots).

So mixed to entire, entire to mixed, add, subtract multiply and divide...how about rationalize and all of these operations to only square roots? or just the variable to expressions to square root.

Solve problems that involve radical equations (limited to square roots or
cube roots).

So x^3=27 ? How come 20 - 1 says limited to square roots and 20-2 includes cubes?

Thank you for your question Sheri and after first reading the outcome, I have to admit I was bit confused as well so I emailed Alberta Education and here is the response.

I have a quick question about the Math 20-2 curriculum:

Here are the standards:

Solve problems that involve operations on radicals and radical expressions with numerical and variable radicands (limited to square roots)

I am assuming of this one is that it is only limited to square roots when variable radicands are involved. CORRECT? agree

Solve problems that involve radical equations (limited to square roots and cube roots)
On page 205 of the Nelson textbook they talk about the fourth root. Is this beyond the scope of the curriculum? I believe so?????absolutely beyond

I hope this answers your question.
