This is what I am planning on doing for the final exam.

I am just going to use the exam bank (the one that came with the book)-- I think its called Exam View Test Generator-- to create a set of questions. Right now this is my blueprint:

My final will have 25 MC/NR:

4 questions from Ch 8
7 questions from Ch 6/7
5 questions from Ch 1/2
6 questions from ch 3/4
3 questions from ch 5

I will have 5 short answer questions -- 1 from each strand.

As well the questions will be in the above order since that is the order I went thru the course.

I'm planning on making it up over Xmas break (for us that's from the 16th to the 2nd).  I'll email it to Candice and whoever else would like to see it, but I won't post it to the moodle, since I'm not sure if this is a secure site and I'd rather not have it leaked to  non teaching members.  I hope you all understand.

I would love to see some MC questions! I dont have an exam-bank so all of my tests have (mostly) been long answer so far....

Once you have a draft, send me a copy at chris.demeule@btps.ca and I will provide some feedback.

Also, maybe add an additional question to each of your categories so that there is a total of 30 questions? or even 35?

Would you be willing to share it with me.  I teach a Math 20-1, Math 20-2 and Math 20-3 split and this would be extremely helpful.

Thanks!

Hi Maxine and Susan,

Sounds like you will have a busy holiday! smile Thanks for your willingness to share your exam. You are right, the site we are in right now is not secure, it is open.... however, have you had a chance to check out Candace's Assessment area? It is a more secure area. There is a link in this math course to assess the assessment area, however you need an enrolment key to get in. If anyone is interested in checking out this area, please feel free to e-mail me for the key, and in your e-mail just let me know where (what school/town) you are teaching.

Thanks, and it's great to see all of the conversations in here! smile

I am wondering since there has been such a response to the final examination creation, would all of you be willing to meet online and we all work together to create a final examination so that it does not fall all on one person.

I will create a webinar that we can meet before Christmas. Thoughts?

Here are some dates that I am available:
Tuesday, December 13th 4:00pm or later
Wednesday, December 14th 4:00pm or later
Then any day from Monday, December 19th - 21st 4:00pm or later.

I really think this will be a great chance to work together. And even if you don't have the testbank, I am sure the discussions that you contribute or perhaps the editing can be done by Chris.

Please let me know by Monday, and I will set up a session. Even if there is a group of three of us, that is better than just one person doing the work.

Hey - What about setting up a google-docs document that everyone can work on at times that are convenient to them.  That way they do not have to work all at the same time and the document becomes a work in progress...

Thoughts?????

That said - I can work on a google-doc but do not know how to initiate one (even though I have been to a session...sigh) SO would be happy to contribute if someone can start it.

I love the idea as well. What a great idea.

There is a group of us meeting early next week to discuss the blueprinting of the exam. I will send out information as soon as I can confirm the time.

After having those all important discussions of how to set up the exam, I will set up a Google doc. So that people can start contributing.

If you can't attend a meeting, but still want to contribute I will discuss with you individually what you want to contribute and put it directly on the document.

This is so great. I have never done this before, but I am up for the challenge.

If somebody will set up a webinar I will try to attend. Not all of us will be able to make it, but some of us will.
