Reflection on 20-2 vs. 30-2

I had a question asked of me if I thought Math 20-2 is a more difficult course than Math 30-2?  I do feel the student struggle a bit with 20-2.

Could it be:

The outcomes with Ch. 2 Properties of Angles in Triangles, Ch. 4 Radicals,  and Ch. 6,7 Quadratics that this course is more difficult.

Could it be the resources available, diploma course vs. non-diploma course?

Could it be the fear of the diploma?

I am wondering what your thoughts are on the question.

i have taught both these courses for the last 2 years and find that students struggle with writing proofs, quadratic functions/equations and radicals to an extent. At the same time, they are more confident with angles/parallel lines, proportional reasoning and statistics.  For 30-2, the outcomes are certainly more challenging and we have students using it to go into 30-1 When they have found 20-1 challenging and need a 30-1 for post secondary.
