Escape Velocity (Johnny Wolfe--Santa Rosa District Schools) http://www.beaconlearningcenter.com/Lessons/Lesson.asp?ID=1483
The ability to use and compute roots is often a necessary tool in physics. For example, square roots are used to compute the minimum velocity a spacecraft must have to escape the gravitational force of a planet.

Equations containing radicals with variables in the radicand are called radical equations. To solve such equations, first isolate the radical on one side of the equation and then square each side of the equation to eliminate the radical.
