The Seven Mathematical Processes [C,CN,T,V] 2.1 Anges in Standard Position Investigate |
Students made a 30, 60, 90 triangle and placed it on a grid in standard position. Students reflected their triangle in the x and y axis to visualize how reference angles are related to angles in standard postion. We also used the special triangle the students folded to discover the exact values of the ratios. |

The Seven Mathematical Processes [C,CN,V,R] Activity in lesson: Creating a special triangle. |
Students used their paper triangle on a coordinate grid during the lesson. We reflected the triangle in the y axis and discussed the effect on the sign of the coordinates and the sign of the primary trig ratios. Students discovered rules for signs of primary trig ratios in all four quadrants using reflections in the x and y axis. Students named their rule "A Smart Trig Class". | |

The Seven Mathematical Processes [C,CN,PS, V,T] |
The Geometer's Sketchpad file for Ambiguous case allows the length of a to be altered to demonstration the various situations. The number of triangles show up as the length of a is chPnged. The GeoGebra file is very similar to the GSP file. |
